New Knitting Project!

This is going to be my next knitting project - a sudoku blanket! :-) Doesn't it look like fun?

Because I'm allergic to wool, I can't use the yarn called for in the original pattern. Therefore I may have to fiddle with the colors and make substitutions. The important thing will be to use the proper size of needles and an equivalent weight of wool/acrylic. All the information is on the skeins' labels.

I'm planning on kitting he squares individually, then sewing them together with clear thread. I'm not sure how to make the black edging yet, but I'm on Ravelry, so I'll probably get some great tips there.

Yay!!!

(FYI, this is Pen/Taneli from BYDLS)

For the black edging one of my suggestions would be to actually not use clear thread, but to use black yarn to sew it together.

It looks like a really fun project! I hope it goes well :)

This makes a really warm blanket. Many years ago I made a similar one. I'd recommend that you crochet the squares together with black. Would really look nice and add texture.

Thanks for the suggestions, Pen and momma bear!

Should the black edging be knitted from the same brand of yarn as the rest of the project? Lion Brand makes a yarn meant to be black, but it is actually a composite of grey and black. Ideally, I'd like something pure black, but tat would mean going outside of Lion Brand and sacrificing a uniform texture.
